A Warm Welcome To The 2022 BMW i4: Detailed Review

Spread the love

Some brands are still new to the electric vehicle segment, but not BMW. As this German automaker continues its quest to expand its electric lineup, the all-new 2022 BMW i4 is the new addition to the portfolio. This new EV is based on the gas-powered 3-series. Unlike the previous BMW EVs, the all-new 2022 i4 will be the brand’s first fully-electric gran coupe.

If you’re looking for an all-electric BMW vehicle that delivers exciting performance, posh interior, and futuristic tech amenities, leasing the 2022 BMW i4 is the deal. This fully-electric i4 Gran Coupe effortlessly combines the conventional BMW traits with EV elements to give a satisfying experience. From its stunning on-road presence to its performance and heavy set of tech niceties, this German brand further proves why it is at the top of the luxury car ladder. Although the all-new i4 may be more pricey than most of its rivals, it’s definitely worth every cent.

Engine & Performance

BMW packs an 80.7-kWh battery pack and two powertrain options in the all-new i4, depending on the model. The base model, eDrive40, comes standard with a single rear-mounted electric motor that generates 335 horsepower. The performance-oriented M50 model is equipped with a dual electric motor, one on each axle, and all-wheel drive, which puts out 536 horsepower and 586 lb-ft of torque.

Whether you decide to stick with the base eDrive40 model or the M50, you can count on getting a pleasurable driving experience. This electric gran coupe is quick and offers nimble handling. While the eDrive40 models can go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, the brutal M50 gets it done in just 3.9 seconds. The 2022 i4 is a comfortable cruiser, effortlessly gliding over bumps and other road imperfections, thanks to its air suspension at the rear. The AWD system and the adjustable adaptive suspension in M50 models further boost the ride quality of this electric Bimmer.

Range & Charging

BMW claims that the single motor and rear-wheel drive i4 eDrive40 with its 80.7-kWh battery pack can go up to 300miles per charge while the dual-motor all-wheel drive M50 makes 245 miles on a single charge.

Charging this all-new family-friendly electric SUV with a 200-kilowatt charging capacity (DC fast charging) can add up to 90 to 100 miles in just 10 minutes. It also takes less than 8 hours to recharge the battery from 0 to 100%, using the Level 2 charger with 11 kW of power.

Interior

Inside, the i4 sports a well-built and richly appointed interior, just like every other BMW. The best part of the rich and tech stacked i4’s cabin is the latest BMW iDrive 8 infotainment system and connectivity features that operate through a curved 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and 14.9-inch infotainment screens on the dash.

Passenger and cargo space in the all-new i4 is mostly the same as the regular 4 Series Gran Coupe.

Safety

BMW stacks many standard active safety features and driver assists in the all-new 2022 BMW i4, including

  • Automated emergency braking
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Forward-collision warning
  • Lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist
  • Rear cross-traffic alert and parking sensors
